Managing Partner Michael C. Carroll
Michael C. Carroll brings a wealth of securities, governance, M&A, private equity, real estate, transactional, and general corporate law experience to public companies, privately-held companies, and individual clients.
Mr. Carroll was previously Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer, and General Counsel of Medallion Financial Corp., a NASDAQ-traded commercial lender and FDIC-insured bank, and was Senior Counsel of Aames Investment Corporation, a NYSE-traded real estate investment trust. Prior to his in-house positions, he practiced in the corporate law department of the international law firm of Willkie Farr Gallagher, LLP in New York, New York.
In 2005, Mr. Carroll was selected for the “In-House Counsel” feature story in the January 24, 2005 issue of The National Law Journal. He is a former Chair of the New to In-House Committee of Association of Corporate Counsel – America (ACCA), monthly columnist for The Docket – The Journal of the Association of Corporate Counsel, and contributor to The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel. Mr. Carroll is the 2001 recipient of the Scales of Justice Award from MFY Legal Services, New York City’s largest provider of legal services to the indigent.
Mr. Carroll is the former Co-Chair of the Education Committee of the Forum for Corporate Directors, and has been a board member on multiple start-up ventures, the international children’s charity Child Aid, and the Orange County Press Club. He is the author of LAB 257, a New York Times bestselling non-fiction book published by HarperCollins Publishers. Mr. Carroll is also a contributing writer for Orange Coast magazine. Mr. Carroll is a frequent television guest and radio commentator. He has appeared on the NBC Today show, Fox News Channel, Fox Business Channel, MS-NBC, and NPR (national public radio).
Mr. Carroll holds a B.A., magna cum laude, from American University and a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, where he was Editor of the St. John’s Law Review. He is admitted to the bar in the States of California, New York, and Texas, and is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and the Forum for Corporate Directors.
